BREAKING NEWS: The title was not a typo. I repeat the title was not a typo. It was Echolalia-which is the clinical name for repetitive speech. A condition that is common in both boys and girls on the spectrum.
With that being said: Welcome to my Blog
I am Momma A and this blog is about my wonderful sweet, quirky, shy, and yes sometimes difficult daughter-The fabulous Punky.(No that's not her real name.) Just think Punky Brewster with lighter hair & autism and you'll begin forming a good mental picture.
The purpose of this blog is to shed a little more light on what it's like to raise/be a girl on the Autism Spectrum because lets face it is a Autism boy's world out there. So much of the available information on Autism is gender specific, and is favored in books, memes, websites, and especially in movies and television.
With that being said, I do want stress regardless of gender Autism education and acceptance is the most important issue within the Autism community and we are all one big community! In future blogs I will cover more about all those issues.
Now A little bit about us.
Punky is a 11 year old girl who is obsessed with watching Youtube tutorials, Playing on the Xbox, and She is a HUGGER! (Bayley from RAW for those of you that are not big wrestling fans) This is something her older sisters are wishing she hadn't discovered as they are serving as her unwilling wrestling opponents
Pink is not just her favorite color its also her biggest and longest obsession to date. She also has a even bigger dislike for Shopkins!!!
Now as for me Momma A: I am a mother to five wonderful children ranging from ages 18 down to 11 years. My Husband thinks I'm crazy but I think I'm a superhero...It's an ongoing debate! When I am not wearing my mother/wife crown & cape, I am working on writing my first novel.
Our Journey into the world of Autism started very early on but we didn't have a clue where we were until we received an official map when Punky turned 8 years old and was diagnosed with Autism spectrum disorder. (I will get more into this in a future blog)
It has been a very emotional roller coaster and the ride continues each day. I am hoping to take you on some of our adventures along the way.
Stay tuned. Thanks for visiting!
